PURPOSE

My name is John Giancola. I am a writer who is compiling information for an upcoming project I am working on. It is my opinion that the Media as represented by the written and electronic mediums including internet blogs really have no clue as to how “everyday people” feel about the direction of our country.

I have experience as a business owner, church pastor, construction worker, sales professional, entrepreneur, writer, father, grand-father, husband, divorcee, kitchen designer, waste hauler, delivery driver, 12 steppin’ football coach, and much more. I have been arrested for causes on both the right and left and have had the ACLU and Heritage Foundation angered with me. I realize that if I am right then someone else must be wrong and rarely is life so black and white. I have come to a few simple conclusions in my life and one of them is that I know I am crazy and I am waiting for the rest of the world to figure out that they are. . “It is a small and insecure mind that refuses to challenge its own thinking.”

In preliminary interviews I have found that few of us understand the current economic crisis, we are split on major issues like gay rights, abortion, bail-outs, war, poverty, immigration, gun-control, energy, marijuana, and unemployment. Many of us see the current political structure as fractional at best and combative at worst. More then 90% of us are frustrated with the current structure of government pitting only two ideology’s causing an either/or reasoning and solutions where up to 49% of us lose. There is a deep frustration brewing with our elected leaders and that frustration is elevated when the entrenched beaurocracy, out of touch with the people it serves, is considered. We see the problem and cannot, for the life of us; figure out why our leaders cannot find a middle ground.

I am doing this, because I believe the wisdom of our leaders is questionable and faulty due to their world view and the protection of their own interests. Most public policy is being set, not with everyone in mind, but by dividing us into groups and handing out enough goodies to keep us satisfied but never full.

SOLUTIONS

This is a book about solutions. We are all aware of the problems and my opinion is that the solutions can be found in the wisdom of “Everyday People”.

It is obvious that solutions exist but when are they are bantered in a context of winning or losing and votes cast by representatives who are bought and sold, is it really any wonder that we find ourselves in the mess we are in?

If you are interested in sharing your point of view, I am willing to listen, to challenge, and to accurately communicate your opinions. If you wish to participate you should be willing to see another’s point of view. This is about growth and solutions, there are no winners or losers. As a nation we are entrenched in a mind set that only some can win. That means some must lose. How about solutions where we all win?

I am not writing this book to circulate “MY” opinions, but to find our collective genius. Every person who participates will have a line in the book, if not more. I would like to share more in depth about your opinions on the book’s blog on a regular basis without using your name. Eventually, when the book is released, you can find your quote(s).

We will also talk about the people, events, and personal revelations that have influenced or guide your life. We will talk about spirituality and dreams. Your life experience has taught you things that are unique to you and may be the very things that could shape the public debate.
I must honestly say I have no idea about the direction of this book in terms of outcome. Truly, the very things you reveal will form the wisdom that will come forth from this book.

Besides the personal interviews, there will be an optional group conscience. This is to meld the opinions and show that people of good will can find solutions. The discussions shared at each campfire meeting will be guided by the personal interviews conducted prior to the meeting.
